🗝️ Better Shot at Getting Ungated? InventoryLab Might Help

If you've been blocked from selling certain brands, there’s a quiet change happening behind the scenes –and InventoryLab users may have the edge.

Yoda Yee, founder of ThreeColts (InventoryLab’s parent company), recently posted on X that auto-ungatings are about to become easier in the near future:

But how does being an InventoryLab user increase your chances of getting ungated?
According to Yee, it has something to do with InventoryLab’s API.

Apparently, they’re using data from IL’s API calls to determine what to prioritize so that’s why triggering IL’s restriction checker should improve your chances”, he explains.

Some InventoryLab users are already seeing results:

Yee also recently provided an update on how InventoryLab users can trigger a better chance at ungating using InventoryLab:

🪦 RIP Amazon Search Bar (2010–2025)

Prime Day used to be simple:
Run some PPC, tweak your price, ride the traffic.

But this year?
The game changed. Gen AI flipped the board.

According toAdobe, traffic from AI shopping tools jumped3,300%. Shoppers didn’t head to Amazon tosearch. They used AI tools like ChatGPT, Rufus, and Perplexity toask for recommendations, and bought what showed up.

Amazon’s search bar didn’t break.
It just got replaced.

What That Means for Sellers

🧠The funnel starts before Amazon
AI tools are answering “best gift for Dad” before shoppers ever open the app. If you're not part of that answer, you’re not even in the running.

📉PPC isn’t enough anymore
Bidding big doesn’t help if AI skips your listing. Discovery now depends on structure, trust signals, and outside content AI can crawl.

📱Mobile shopping = faster bounce
52% of Prime Day orders came from phones. AI pulls quick summaries. Shoppers scroll fast. Weak copy = no click.

What Smart Sellers Are Doing

Write for AI
Your PDP needs clean bullets, question-based copy, and review-rich content. If AI can’t skim it, it skips it.

Get talked about in public
AI scrapes Reddit, Quora, blogs, and even TikTok captions. Plant your product in the places robots read.

Influencers = AI whisperers
Work with creators who know how to feed GenAI. Their content might end up training the next wave of buyer prompts.

The Amazon game is evolving.
And if you’re still playing by old rules, Q4 won’t be kind.

💰 The Million-Dollar Club Is Growing — Here’s How to Join

Big news: The number of Amazon sellers making over $1 million a year has nearly doubled since 2021. Today, more than 100,000 sellers worldwide are hitting that milestone.

blank

Here’s what’s driving it:

Even though the total number of active sellers dropped by 10%, the sellers who keep pushing and adapting are grabbing bigger slices of the Amazon pie. The marketplace is rewarding those who know how to handle rising fees, tariffs, and tougher competition.

Some key facts:

  • The top 2% of sellers now generateover half of Amazon’s total revenue.

  • Traffic per seller is up 31%, meaning less noise and more buyer eyes on your listings.

  • The US marketplace leads, but Chinese sellers are rapidly growing their share.

  • Whether you’re OA, RA, Wholesale, or Private Label, the road to scaling is clear: adapt and optimize.

What To Do Now

  • Double down on winners: Focus on your best products and scale up. Quality beats quantity.

  • Watch your margins: Fees keep rising. Use smart sourcing and tools to keep profits healthy.

  • Optimize for more traffic: Improve your listings and marketing to grab the extra attention active sellers are getting.

  • Stay flexible: Amazon’s game keeps changing (but we already know that). Be ready to pivot and test new strategies.

  • Learn from the top: Follow what the big players do and apply their winning moves to your business.

Success on Amazon is more possible than ever, but only if you keep evolving with the marketplace.

📢 Brand Registry Isn’t Just for Private Label Anymore

Amazon’s updatedBrand Registry guide isn’t just for sellers building their own brands. It has major implications for arbitrage and wholesale sellers too, especially as we barrel toward Q4.

Even if you’ve never enrolled in Brand Registry, you’replaying on its turf. And the rules just got a bit stricter.

🚧 What’s Changing?

Amazon’s 2025 update to the Brand Registry guide includes:

  • A simplified overview of how to enroll

  • Updated trademark requirements

  • Clearer steps for verification

  • A breakdown of post-registration perks (like A+ Content and Brand Analytics)

Great news for brand builders. But also a warning shot to resellers: Amazon is tightening the bolts around brand protection.

⚠️ Why It Matters for OA, RA, and Wholesale Sellers

Whether you’re scanning shelves, hunting for deals online, or sourcing by the pallet, you’ve likely already felt it:

  • More listings are gated—especially for common retail brands

  • IP complaints are easier to file—even against legit sellers

  • Listings are getting locked by brand owners, limiting your control

  • Suppressed listings often pop up during Q4—sometimes without warning

Brand Registry gives brands more tools, more control, and more ways to ruin your day.

🛡️ Stay Ahead of the Wrecking Ball

Use tools likeIP Alert to flag problematic brands before you source. It gives resellers real-time insight into brand restrictions, gating, and known IP complaint history so you don’t get caught off guard when the Q4 pressure hits.

It’s not just about making better buys- it’s also about protecting your account.

Q4 Selling: Amazon Christmas Toys & How to Get Ungated in Toys on Amazon https://www.fbaleadlist.com/q4-selling-amazon-christmas-toys-how-to-get-ungated-in-toys-on-amazon/ Fri, 01 Oct 2021 09:55:13 +0000 /2021/10/01/q4-selling-amazon-christmas-toys-how-to-get-ungated-in-toys-on-amazon/

Word Count: 782Estimated Reading Time: 2.7 minutes

Q4 is about to kick off, and we know that everyone is really excited about the shopping frenzy about to take place.

No doubt, toys are going to be among the hottest selling products this Q4. One interesting trend to take note of is that since 2019, online sales of toys have gone up by a whopping 50%, which makes toys a very important part of your business strategy this Q4.

Amazon recently released a list of toys that they love, and this might prove useful in your sourcing strategy. Check out the list here.

Now, we know that some sellers feel a bit left out because they haven’t been ungated in the Toys category yet, or couldn’t sell toys from a lot of popular brands. Don’t worry, we’re here to help!

We’ve prepared a quick guide for people who would like to know how to get ungated in toys on Amazon:

How To Get Approval to Sell Toys on Amazon

What You Will Need:

If you are submitting a selling application for a brand, you will need one of the following:

  • At least 1 purchase invoice for products from a manufacturer or distributor

  • A letter from the toy brand authorizing you to sell its products

Pro Tips:

  • When you place your order, make sure to use the information such as the name, business address, email address and phone number that appear on your Amazon seller account.

  • Order from a reputable distributor, and place an order for at least 10 units of a toy that’s already listed on Amazon. Your purpose is to get approval, not to make profit, so stick to low to mid-value products.

  • Make sure that your invoice has all of the information Amazon will need to give you approval. Amazon will check the name of the wholesaler/manufacturer/distributor so make sure it’s there. Also, it would be a good idea to add in the ASIN, UPC and item model number of the product you ordered to the invoice.

  • Getting ungated for a toy brand requires a cash investment, so it’s kind of pointless to get ungated for a brand if you aren’t going to be able to source its products regularly and easily. Before making this investment, pay attention to brands that often appear in clearance sales and the likes, prep a brand list, and then proceed.

  • Research is very important, and we’ve done part of it for you. Download a list of Restricted Toy Brands here.

If you are submitting a selling application to sell children’s toys, you will need the following:

  • Company Name

  • Seller ID/Vendor ID

  • Email Address

  • Phone Number

  • A list of ASINS you are applying to sell

  • Product Images and Manuals (images should include all relevant safety information, compliance markings, and small parts and choking hazard warnings)

  • A Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) for the ASINs you are applying to sell

  • Test reports from a CPSC-accepted testing laboratory

Log in to Seller Central and click here to for more information on Federal Safety Standards, lab testing requirements, more information on specific toys, Consumer Product Safety Commision (CPSC) compliance, and CPSC-accredited laboratories.

Application Process:

    1. Log in to your seller account, and from the Inventory Menu, select “Add a product”.

Q4 Selling: Amazon Christmas Toys & How to Get Ungated in Toys on Amazon
    1. Search for the product you want to sell, or type in the ASIN of the toy you want to sell. In the search results, you’ll notice a blue box with the text “Apply to Sell”. You may click this to begin the application process. Clicking on “Show Limitations” will tell you if you are approved to sell the brand or in the category.

    1. Submit the requirements.

What If I Don’t Get Approved?

Again, we’d like to reassure you that not everyone gets approved the first time they apply. If your application is rejected, we recommend getting in touch with Seller Central immediately so that you will know why exactly your application was rejected. You may then address these issues and reapply.

If you don’t want to go through the application process, there is also the option of using an Amazon ungating service. Take note though that these services can cost quite a bit, and from our experience can at best provide mixed results.

Holiday Restrictions

Another thing to take note of are Holiday Restrictions in the Toys and Games Category. This only applies to FBM sellers (sellers who fulfill their own orders). By now, you would have already received the letter from Amazon which tells you if you qualify or not to sell Toys this Q4. If you want to know more about Amazon’s Holiday Selling Requirements, check out our previous blog post.

We hope that this blog post helped you in planning for this year or next year’s Q4 selling strategy. If you have more questions on how to get approval to sell toys on Amazon, let us know in the comments.

Selling Toys on Amazon This Q4 2025: What You Should Know as Early as Now

Updated 7/31/25

🗓Q4 Prep Begins Now

It’s almost August, and as early as now we already feel that Q4 is upon us.

For those of us in the Amazon game, we know that toys are among, if notthe hottest selling products come Q4. While they sell well throughout the year, sales go through the roof from October until the 2nd week of December, so it’s very important that you have a sound selling strategy in place to make the most out of this very lucrative season.

We updated this blog post to help you with your planning, so read up to stay updated.

🧸Updates in the Toys and Games Category

Let’s start off with possible updates in the Toys and Games category.

THE GOOD NEWS:There aren’t any new restrictions that will limit FBA sellers from selling products in this category this year. We reached out to Seller Central recently, and were informed that there are no current updates to policies in the Toys and Games category.

There are however, still existing policies that we all have to be aware of that may affect our capacity to sell in the Toys and Games category:

📬Holiday Selling Requirements (FBM Sellers):

This only affects FBM sellers. For FBM sellers to be approved to be able to sell this holiday season, these conditions must be fulfilled:

  • their first sale must be prior toSeptember 2025.

  • they must have been able to fulfillat least 25 orders fromAugust 15 to October 14.

  • Pre fulfillment Cancel Rate is not greater than1.75% fromSeptember to October.

  • Late Shipment Rate must not be greater that4% fromSeptember to October

  • Order Defect Rate must not be greater than1% as ofOctober

So if you sell via FBA, this doesn’t affect you.

Pro Tip: If you are an FBA seller who has done merchant-fulfilled previously and meet these requirements, adding FBM can be a good idea to your Q4 selling strategy. Keep in mind that if you sell via FBA exclusively, there is a cutoff date that you have to observe when sending products you wish to sell for Q4 selling to Amazon fulfillment centers:

  • Halloween – October 1

  • Black Friday – November 1

  • Cyber Monday – November 1

  • Christmas Shopping – December 1

Adding FBM allows you to keep selling items beyond this cutoff date, when sales are still very high.

📏Policy on Toys Intended for Use of 12 Years Olds and Below:

Amazon now requires that toys intended for the use of 12 years old and Below meet Federal Safety Standards. Take note that if you have toys for children ages 12 and below already for sale, Amazon may request that you provide toy safety documentation for compliance.

Log in to your seller central account and follow this link to seeAmazon’s policy for selling in Toys and Games in the US Marketplace.

Examples of Products you can’t sell under this policy:

  • Abrasive kite strings

  • Beaded and amber teething jewelry

  • Beaded clips and chains

  • Mushroom-shaped infant teether or pacifiers

  • Non-toy magnet products

  • Polar pens

  • Powerful magnets

  • Throwing star fidget spinners

  • Toothpick crossbows

  • Water beads

Find more info on prohibited productshere.

Also, Amazon has emphasized certain toys for children aged 12 years old and below, so if you plan on sourcing the following toys or have them in your inventory, make sure that you check the Help articles for the following products:

We hope that this blog post helped you in planning for your Q4 strategy, and if you have any questions and concerns regarding products in the Toys and Games category, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
