🔍 OA Sourcing Tip: The 8‑Point Checklist Every Lead Must Pass

If you want predictable profit instead of “hope this one works,” you can’t buy off just gut feel alone. You need a simple checklist every OA lead has to clear before you pony up the cash and buy stock.

In our latest blog post, we break that into an 8‑point pass/fail test:

1. Sales velocity – BSR + recent sales / month show it’s actually moving and won’t trap your cash.

2. Profit & ROI – clears your after‑fee minimums

3. 90‑day stability – price and offer count aren’t falling off a cliff

4. True Competition – number of FBA sellers within 5% of buy box offer must be manageable

5. Buy Box behavior– healthy rotation, no Amazon hogging it

6. Vetted retailer– legit products and documentation

7. Risk check – no obvious IP / brand‑cleanup landmines (drastic offer count drop, brand is not on the listing, etc…)

8. Listing match– title, images, size, and pack count all line up

Here’s an example of a lead that passes this 8-point checklist. This was from our Neptune 22 daily list:

ROI:71.75%

BSR:28,000 in Beauty & Personal Care (top 1%)

🗞️ Essential Amazon Seller Focus: Your IPI Score Before Q4

No big policy drop this week, but Amazon has been leaning harder on Inventory Performance Index (IPI) to decide how much Q4 storage you get.

For OA sellers, that matters more than most people think:

  • Your IPI is basically Amazon’s “trust score” on how you handle inventory.
  • Low IPI going into Q4 = tighter storage caps and restock limits right when you want to send the most inventory in.
  • The Amazon online arbitrage model (lots of SKUs, small tests, random leftovers) naturally drift toward excess + aged stock, which is exactly what drags IPI down.

The score is driven by a few core levers you can control:

  • Sell‑through rate:how fast inventory moves
  • Excess inventory: units Amazon thinks you’re holding too deep
  • Stranded and unsellable units: inventory sitting there doing nothing
  • In‑stock rate on your best sellers

If you clean this up now, you go into Q4 with more storage headroom, fewer surprise caps, and less cash stuck in dead ASINs.

Quick To‑Do List:

This week, set aside 30–60 minutes to:

1. Open the Inventory Performance dashboard in Seller Central and write down your current IPI.

2. Sort by “Excess” and “Aged 181+ days” and make decisions: reprice to move, coupon/Outlet, or remove/liquidate. Don’t carry obvious losers into Q4.

3. Clear stranded / inactive listings so you’re not punished for inventory that can’t even sell.

4. Tag your true Q4 winners (proven Keepa demand + history for your account) and prioritize restocking those over random “looks good on paper” tests.

5. Pause sending slow, experimental buys FBA for now; test those FBM or in smaller quantities until after peak.

6. Calendar a 15‑minute IPI check every 2 weeks through the end of October so you can course‑correct before Amazon does it for you.

You don’t have to obsess over the exact number. Just make sure your behavior looks like someone Amazon should give more space to, not less.

📈 Turn your sourcing into predictable profit (not random wins)

Most OA sellers live lead-to-lead, then wonder why cash flow feels chaotic. This breakdown shows how to treat sourcing like a pipeline: consistent inputs, repeatable workflows, and a lead bank you can reuse instead of starting from zero every week.

🥫 Buying wide in OA: the hidden tradeoffs

“Buy wide” sounds safer… until you’re stuck managing 50 tiny SKUs, weird restocks, and scattered capital. This guide walks through when buying wide actually helps, where it quietly kills profit, and how to set simple guardrails for your own OA model.

💸 Q4 reimbursement audit: stop leaving free inventory money on the table

Lost inventory, bad returns grading, and quiet FBA write‑offs add up fastest in Q4. On average, sellers using GETIDA see 166% more in Amazon FBA recovery than sellers who don’t use it. A reimbursement audit before Q4 can turn “missing” dollars into fresh inventory buys.
